The accompanying piece to the female portrait in pink is probably of the slightly older husband, whose identity is also unknown. His likeness excels equally in splendid attire, with a silver-embroidered coat and waistcoat, and lace cuffs, but it depicts a character far more impassive than that of the young wife. The painting has fared better than the female portrait, which has lost texture and glazing to heavy-handed conservation.
