Claude Hoin was a French artist who adopted Hall’s technical equilibrium with impressionistic hatching and stippling. Hoin’s work is so similar that it has often been confused with its role model. He was actually a pastel painter, but also produced portrait miniatures. One cabinet miniature in the museum’s collection, showing a woman in a park, is very reminiscent of Hall’s technique. It is possibly a role portrait of the famous actress Louise-Rosalie Dugazon.
