panel; damage with ground and paint layer
losses along the bottom edge; halo gold
heavily abraded
The text on the scroll, which is predominantly
intact, reads: “Peter said:
Thou art Jesus, the Son of the Living
God. On this rock [...].”1
Exhibited in Berlin 1966 as Novgorod
school, 15th century.
