The iconography adheres to tradition,

the singer and hymn-writer, flanked on
the left by the Patriarch of Jerusalem,
among others, and on the right by
Andrey the Holy Fool with his disciple.
In the bottom right corner, within
a separate architectural frame, is
a scene from the legend of the life
of Romanus, showing how the Mother

She gives him a scroll to eat.1
