CONSERVATION: Restored prior to entering
NM: scattered retouches; NM 1970: large
blisters in the middle and flaking paint
consolidated, retouchings. Yellowish varnish;
panel warped.
The seven saints – six apostles and a
female martyr – depicted here pray to
an icon of the Mother of God Hodegetria
painted on the top edge of the
border. They are, from left: Parmenas,
Paul, Prokhor, Peter (in the centre),
Nicanor, Aquilina and Timon.
