    Panel made of single board with two
    splines inlaid from opposite sides; back
    grounded and painted dark brown.

    CONSERVATION: Restored prior to entering
    NM: crack through centre of panel repair -
    ed with metal plates; NM 1965: extensive
    test exposures of underlying paint layers,
    retouches on lower part of Christ Child.
    Panel cracked down centre
    The panel is probably 18th century but
    with the exception of the green background
    none of the original painting
    survives.
