in the late 19th century; NM 1959: laying
down of blisters. Damage to left side of
lower edge, with paint and ground; various
retouchings along the edges; thick layer

The prototype originates in 16th
centuryNovgorod,where one finds
sev eral examples of this expanded
icono graphy with Elijah on a cloud
and Moses in his sarcophagus in the
upper part, together with Christ and
the three apostles on either side of
the mountain in the middle ground.
