This profile portrait of Jahangir, Great Mogul of India, belonged to the old royal Treasury Collection. The beautifully mounted miniature may have been brought to Sweden by the English diplomat Sir Thomas Roe. From 1615 to 1618 he was ambassador to the court at Agra, and just over ten years later he mediated between Sweden and Poland. The portrait may therefore have been a gift to Gustav II Adolf.
