    Ulla Sparre was artistically gifted, heiress to a significant collection of art, and married to the connoisseur Carl Gustaf Tessin. From 1739 to 1741, during the couple’s stay in Paris, she studied pastel painting with Gustaf Lundberg. He produced several portraits of Ulla. Whether this one was painted in Paris or not is unclear.
