Berggren, a wholesale merchant, had a modern drawing room to suggest taste and cultivation, in keeping with the ideals of the day. Older art featured, but also a newly made Rococo sofa in 18th-century style and a patterned fitted carpet. David Hechler’s Descent from the Cross, from 1651, stands on the table. On the wall is Nils Andersson’s Forest landscape with shepherd boys and cattle, signed 1856. Both works are now in the museum’s collection.
