Ferdinand von Wright was the youngest of the three brothers, and the one who primarily found fame as a painter. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm for a short period but, like his brothers, he was mostly self-taught. His speciality was birds, which were depicted in great detail. The composition is also carefully staged, which can make the overall effect seem somewhat artificial.
