Pen and brown ink, 145 x 196 mm. Verso: Farmyard with pigs and a cart, pen and brown ink. Mounted on blue paper in a window. Some oil stains in the centre. Watermark: Letters. Chain lines: 23–25 mm. Inscribed on the verso at the top, in pen and brown ink, Rembrandt, struck out in pencil, and in the lower left corner a faint inscription, in pencil?, van Borsom f. Mark of the Nationalmuseum (Lugt 1934), and the present inventory number in pencil.
On both recto and verso, a canal is indicated in the foreground, and no doubt the same farm is depicted. The previous drawing shows a similar site. The style is identical to the drawings in the sketchbook in the British Museum. [Magnusson, Dutch Drawings no. 85]
