In the summer of 1832, Frederik Sødring, a painter of the Danish Golden Age, travelled to Norway, passing Brahehus on Lake Vättern on his way. He produced distant view of the former hunting castle, dramatically located on a rocky outcrop, and this study of its interior. The road to Gränna is visible through one of the window openings. When Sødring visited, traces of the Baroque interior painting still remained, making this a documentary painting.
