For several years Karl Nordström rented a house on Härön, off the island of Tjörn on Sweden’s west coast. Kyrkesund us the stretch of water separating the islands and Nordström painted it many times. This is the most majestic rendering with the distinct twilight that adds its special tone to the bold colours the artists used. Although most of the ships are at anchor, one sailing boat sets out to sea alone and enhances the melancholic mood.
