This work portrays the librarian Harald Wieselgren who was one of the founders of the society which is still active and which “exists to promote relations between people from a variety of cultural fields”. The painting is one of the best examples of Zorn’s ability to capture what photographers call the decisive moment, that is to say, the instant when there are perfect conditions for the painting to communicate its content.
