Gerda Roosval-Kallstenius painted this garden scene from Paris in the spring of 1892. It shows a little girl asleep in a pram below a lilac tree. Beside her, the family’s maid seems to find it hard to stay awake. The artist, who was pregnant when she painted this work, has empathetically depicted the peaceful scene and captured the dappled light reflections in a gently impressionistic manner.
