The story is from the Book of Genesis. To test Abraham’s faith, God told him to sacrifice his son Isaac. When all was prepared for the burnt offering, Abraham put Isaac on the wood pyre and grabbed his knife. An angel appeared and told him not to hurt Isaac – Abraham had stood the test. The divine interference is represented by a beam of light through the smoke of the lit sacrificial pyre.
