Lasse Johnson was one of several generations of Swedish artists who drew inspiration from the work of Paul Cézanne. This is reflected in his pronounced colourism, with clear traces of his brushwork. A representative example is Johnson’s portrait of the world famous dramatic soprano Birgit Nilsson, which shows her in concert pose.
