This portrait of Gösta Olson, owner and director of Svensk-Franska Konstgalleriet, was painted in Albin Amelin’s studio in the Stadsgården area of Stockholm, where Amelin and Vera Nilsson had arranged to meet him. Vera Nilsson is said to have marked in chalk the position of the chair the sitter has been placed in, and then the two artists got to work, each from their own vantage point. Nilsson’s painting ended up at the Swedish National Portrait Gallery, while Amelin’s version is now in the Gothenburg Museum of Art.
