It fell to Carl Gustaf Tessin to complete his father’s work on Stockholm Palace, but he soon handed responsibility to his colleague Carl Hårleman. Much later, in 1761, Tessin was threatened with dismissal from his role as senator and chancellor of Åbo University, avoiding this by leaving voluntarily. Tessin wanted to depart with dignity, so ordered an official portrait by Gustaf Lundberg. This is a copy in oils by student Jakob Björck.
