Arvid Horn is dressed in the robes of a councillor of the realm, and on the table is the Lord Marshal’s baton, a reminder that he served as speaker at several Swedish Diets. Twice Horn also held the position of Chancellery President (head of government). He steered Sweden through the difficult period after the death of Charles XII and was the architect of a peace policy that endured for 20 years and brought eco- nomic recovery.
