The Counts Bielke (1644-1716) and Piper (1647-1716) were prominent commanders and officials serving Karl XI and Karl XII. Bielke belonged to the old aristocracy and spent time as a young man at the French court. He fell into disgrace under Karl XII. Piper was born in the middle class, was raised to the nobility and married the rich Christina Törne. He died in Russian captivity. The families Piper and Bielke made big purchases of French furniture.
