Following studies abroad, Gustaf Horn was employed at the court in Stockholm, including as French teacher to Queen Christina. Here he is fashionably dressed in a doub- let of silver cloth with a high waist and slashes on the chest and sleeves. Decorative bows mark the waist, where the breeches were attached to the inside of the doublet. The broad lace collar and the cuffs in the same pattern, like the red breeches, were the height of fashion in the 1630s.
