Sandberg has painted his daughters. They are studying a plaster cast of the antique sculpture Antinous in the light of the lamp. The painting shows that the artist was clearly inspired by the Dutch chiaroscuro paintings of the 17th century. One of the sisters, Eva Johanna, later married the artist Gustaf Wilhelm Palm.
