BiographyJan Josef horemans i was active as a painter,
draughtsman and sculptor in Antwerp between 1694
and 1759. He was a pupil of the sculptor Michiel van
der Voort and later of Jan van Pol.
Horemans became a master in the Guild of St.
Luke in 1706 and often collaborated with his son and
namesake. He mainly painted genre pictures of the
life of Antwerp’s burghers. He specialized in interiors
from artists’ studios.
