BiographyAlessandro Bonvicino, known as il Moretto, was
mainly active in his native Brescia and its vicinity.
Along with his production of religious works, his
rare portraits are of great importance. Moretto’s
artistic formation was related to Brescian artist
Romanino, and the influence of Titian is pronounced
in his work. His late manner adheres
closely to the ideals of the Counter-Reformation.
