    Numbered in pen and brown ink in the lower right corner: 190 (Sparre) and 3.

    Identified by Gere (note on the mount) as a study for the painting in the Cappelle di S. Francesco in S. Giovanni dei Fiorentini, Rome. The compositions are identical except for the figures on the steps and some minor details. Gere has published another study in Madrid. [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 444]
