Numbered at lower right in pen and brown ink: 978 (Sparre) and 56 (struck out). Inscribed on the old mount in pen and brown ink: Algardi (Tessin's hand)

Traditionally attributed to Algardi, this drawing conforms with other drawings in his looser manner. It compares well with a design for a fountain in Edinburgh and a drawing of putti with the arms of Cardinal Pamphili in the British Museum. There is also a close resemblance to a putto in a relief in the Hermitage, St. Peterburg [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 1287]
