The bracelet for Bernde’s miniature of Sergel was probably commissioned by Sergel’s son, Johan Gustaf Sergel (1792–1858), for his wife Carolina Magdalena Dubois (1792–1875). It was made after the miniature, in the Late Empire style. It incorporates the original mount of the miniature, in pink gold with oriental pearls from around 1811, to create a modern piece more in keeping with 1840s taste. The links are made of pressed and soldered gold sheet.

The bracelet was a Sergel family heirloom until 1991 (the miniature) and 2008 (the bracelet) respectively.
