    When the painter Hubert Robert was commissioned to take over the work on the park at Méréville after architect François Joseph Bélanger, he presented his visions in the form of paintings to the owner, the banker Jean Joseph de Laborde. This view of the planned Grotto is an authentic example of the artist’s working method.
