    Red chalk, point of brush in grey and grey wash, 218 x 249 mm. Laid down. Numbered in the lower right corner, in pen and brown ink, 1796 (Sparre) and 184 (struck out). Mark of the Royal Collection (Lugt 1638).

    Kruse recognized the similarity in manner to the washed chalk drawing by Eeckhout in the Hamburger Kunsthalle, The Satyr and the Peasant, which he believed to be by Bol. [Magnusson, Dutch Drawings no. 365]
