The Bedouin Gird is composed round the model’s gaze as the central element. This watercolour was painted in Constantinople during the Zorn honeymoon. It was difficult to find female models so that subjects of this sort from their journey are quite rare. Zorn partially solved the problem by letting Emma pose in clothes that were bought at bazars. Though this watercolour portrays a locally hired model.
