Can you preserve the memory of a dreadful event by weaving it? The question was the starting point of Maria Adlercreutz’s weave based on two press photos from the Vietnam War. The portrait shows Le Thi Rieng, a front figure of the Viet Cong movement, murdered after being tortured for a long time. The second picture is taken at the massacre in Son My on March 16, 1968. Adlercreutz has captured contemporary screened newspaper images in the black and white dots of the weave.
