During the 20th century Kål-Margit was one of Sweden’s most famous and most frequently reproduced paintings. Margit was the name of the model and she became a close friend of Anders and Emma Zorn. She has related how she used to sing while modelling for Zorn and if she was not singing he would whistle. Margit took part in Zorn’s so-called playhouses when he would invite youngsters to Gopsmor to take part in folk dancing.
