The shallow bowl, a so-called tazza, filled with grapes, is the focus of the image. It stands in a niche, surrounded by fruits and objects that all signal wealth and abundance. In the shadow behind the bowl is an earthenware jar and on the narrow ledge there is both precious blue and white Wan li-porcelain and a Venetian glass. The low viewpoint of this painting suggests that it was intended to be hung high, perhaps over a doorway.
